Mercedes-AMG has offered an early glimpse of its latest high-performance creation — the AMG GT Track Sport Concept — which builds upon the second-generation AMG GT platform and combines motorsport-inspired design with V8 muscle. Confirmed to feature the brand’s signature V8 engine, the concept is pitched as a dual-purpose machine targeting both the track and the road.

Track-Focused Design with Road Sensibility

The teaser image reveals a shadowy silhouette that retains the hallmark proportions of the AMG GT: a low, wide stance with a long bonnet and flared arches. However, the Track Sport Concept introduces a range of aggressive aerodynamic enhancements. A swan-neck rear wing — likely with active aero — dominates the rear profile, while a deep front splitter and extra venting hint at serious attention to cooling and downforce.

These design elements echo GT3-spec race cars, but the visible tyres suggest that this may not be a track-only machine. Instead, it could be road-legal, in line with AMG’s earlier efforts such as the GT R and GT Black Series, which combined everyday usability with hardcore performance.

Confirmed V8 Power, Nürburgring Intentions?

Mercedes-AMG has confirmed that the concept will use its familiar V8 engine, though specific outputs have yet to be disclosed. The car is said to be “designed for absolute driving dynamics” and intended to “set new performance standards and chase record times.” This language strongly hints at an upcoming Nürburgring lap time attempt, now a staple benchmark in the supercar category.

Evolution of the AMG GT Philosophy

The Track Sport Concept appears to follow the evolution seen in the previous generation of the AMG GT lineup, which moved from the GT S to the track-leaning GT R and peaked with the radical GT Black Series. The new concept continues this path, likely serving as a halo car to showcase AMG’s capabilities in blending track precision with street readiness.

Debut Expected at Munich Auto Show

Further details are expected to surface soon, with a public debut likely at the Munich Auto Show in September 2025. If the concept reaches production in similar form, it will go head-to-head with rivals like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, a car renowned for balancing circuit performance with road practicality.
