Mumbai, May 3: Volkswagen is gearing up to introduce three new models in the coming days. If you are a fan of German cars, waiting a little longer could be beneficial. The company plans to launch the facelifted Virtus, a lower-spec Taigun, and the second batch of the Golf GTI.
Recently, Volkswagen unveiled the facelift of the Taigun. Following this, the automaker will roll out additional facelifts and new models. Let’s take a closer look at these upcoming vehicles.
2026 Volkswagen Virtus Facelift
The 2026 Virtus facelift was spotted earlier this month under heavy camouflage. This will be the sedan’s first major update since its launch in the Indian market in 2022. The facelift will feature significant design updates, the latest features, and a new transmission option. Spy photos reveal a redesigned bumper and new alloy wheels. The cabin will resemble the recently launched Taigun SUV, featuring a 10.1-inch central touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. It will continue to offer 1.0 and 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine options. Notably, the update will replace the 6-speed torque converter unit with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Golf GTI (Second Batch)
Volkswagen launched the Golf GTI last year, initially bringing 250 units to India, which sold out almost immediately. Due to the overwhelming response, Volkswagen is now considering a second batch. This new batch is expected to arrive soon and, like the first, will be a CBU (Completely Built Unit). It may include features not available in the previous batch and could be priced slightly higher. The Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 265 BHP, paired with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
Lower-Spec Taigun
Currently, Volkswagen’s flagship SUV in India is the Taigun R-Line. The existing version is the top-spec R-Line variant. The company is preparing to introduce a lower-spec, non-R-Line version. While the R-Line variant has an ex-showroom price of ₹47 lakh, the lower-spec variant will be priced lower. It will feature the same engine as the R-Line but will offer reduced power and torque, along with fewer features.
With these exciting new launches, Volkswagen aims to strengthen its presence in the Indian automotive market.
