Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing Begins Official Visit in Bodh Gaya

Patna, May 30: Myanmar’s President U Min Aung Hlaing has commenced his official visit to India, starting in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. His arrival was warmly welcomed, emphasizing the strengthening of civilizational ties between the two nations. He was received at the airport by Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Syed Ata Hasnain. U Min Aung Hlaing is on a five-day state visit from May 30 to June 3.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the news of his arrival in Bodh Gaya on the social media platform X, along with several photographs. He noted that this visit reflects the deep spiritual, historical, and people-to-people connections between India and Myanmar. It also highlights the ongoing cooperation and mutual partnership between the two countries.

According to the itinerary released by the ministry, President U Min Aung Hlaing will be in India from May 30 to June 3, 2026, at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including several cabinet ministers, senior officials, and representatives from the business sector. This marks his first official visit to India as president.

On June 1, President Hlaing will engage in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi, focusing on enhancing the historical, cultural, and civilizational relations between the two nations. He will also participate in a business forum.

Following his time in Bodh Gaya, U Min Aung Hlaing will visit Mumbai on June 2, where he will attend events related to trade and industry and tour various sites.

Myanmar, positioned at the core of India’s ‘Neighborhood First,’ ‘Act East,’ and ‘Ocean’ policies, is a strategically significant partner for both countries. This visit is expected to deepen and strengthen India-Myanmar relations.
