Patna, May 30: Following the formation of a new government led by Samrat Chaudhary, there is a growing demand to recognize film post-production work in Bihar as an industry and to provide government support for this sector.
During a press conference held at the BIADA Bhawan in the Patliputra Industrial Area, officials from the Association of Cinematic Technology and Art emphasized that Bihar’s film technicians have played a significant role in international films for years. However, they have yet to receive the recognition and institutional support they deserve.
Chairman Devendra Singh noted that for nearly 30 years, VFX, 3D, and colorization work for Hollywood and Bollywood films has been carried out in Patna. He pointed out that due to a lack of awareness and government backing, this sector has not achieved the recognition it merits. Singh shared that artists from Bihar contribute between 25 to 30 percent to several major studios both domestically and internationally.
General Secretary Abhimanyu Pratap Singh stated that if the government promotes this sector and establishes coordination with major studios, it could transform into a significant industry in Bihar. This would create large-scale employment and career opportunities for the youth.
He highlighted that technicians from Bihar have contributed their technical skills to many well-known films. Singh stressed the need for a film city in Bihar, asserting that if a modern film city is developed, filmmakers from across the globe would come to Patna for international-level post-production work. This would directly benefit Bihar in terms of tourism, investment, and job creation.
Treasurer Ranveer Sharma expressed hope that the government would seriously consider emerging fields such as post-production, VFX, 3D, and colorization, aiming to establish Patna as a major center for the film post-production industry in the future. Film actor Amit Ranjan was also present at the event.
