
Gaya, May 30: Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing arrived in Gaya, Bihar, on Saturday as part of his five-day visit to India. Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha. The President is set to visit the renowned Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya.
Officials confirmed that a high-level delegation accompanied the President during this visit. Upon reaching Gaya Airport, he received a formal welcome from the state government. In addition to the Mahabodhi Temple, the President will also visit the Sujata Temple for prayers.
On June 1, President U Min Aung Hlaing will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss strengthening ties between the two nations. This marks his first visit to India since assuming office. He will also participate in a business forum during his stay.
The delegation includes several cabinet ministers, senior officials, and leaders from the business community. On June 2, they will travel to Mumbai for discussions and site visits related to business and industry.
Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha expressed his sentiments on social media, stating, “Today, at Gaya International Airport, we extended our heartfelt welcome to the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, on his auspicious arrival in Bodh Gaya.”
He further noted that the President’s visit to this sacred land, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is a significant opportunity to strengthen the historical, cultural, and spiritual ties between India and Myanmar. Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, cooperation, cultural exchange, Buddhist heritage, and mutual development between the two countries continue to reach new heights.
Earlier this month, Vietnam’s President To Lam also began his visit to India from Bodh Gaya, the site where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment, where he prayed at the Mahabodhi Temple.
