Major Drug Bust in Srinagar: Illegal Assets Worth ₹2 Crore Seized

Srinagar, May 30: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Srinagar have seized illegal assets valued at approximately ₹2 crore. This operation is part of the ongoing “Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign.” The initiative aims to weaken drug networks financially and eliminate the threat of narcotics from society.

According to police reports, the action was taken after investigating various cases in different areas of Srinagar. In the first case, assets worth around ₹1.5 crore were confiscated from an individual residing in the Bemina police jurisdiction. It is alleged that this property was acquired using money earned from illegal drug trafficking. Investigations revealed that a two-story house in Bemina and the surrounding land were purchased with illicit funds. This seizure was conducted following the approval of the relevant authorities in accordance with legal procedures.

In a second case, police also seized property from another suspect, estimated to be worth around ₹50 lakh. This asset was similarly believed to have been acquired through drug trafficking proceeds. This action was based on an investigation into an older case registered under the NDPS Act, where the accused already faced charges.

Police officials confirmed that all actions taken in both cases strictly adhered to legal protocols. Investigations clarified that these properties were indeed purchased with money from illegal activities, leading to the decision to seize them.

The primary goal of this operation is to dismantle the financial roots of drug trafficking networks, thereby effectively controlling such crimes. Authorities have stated that similar stringent actions will continue, leaving no room for drug traffickers.

Srinagar police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drugs immediately, to help safeguard society from this serious issue.
