China’s GDP Expected to Cross 1,400 Trillion Yuan in 2025

Beijing: Multiple international media outlets, including Press Latina, Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao, and The Wall Street Journal, have reported that China’s GDP is projected to exceed 1,400 trillion yuan for the first time in 2025. This milestone underscores the sustained positive trend in the Chinese economy.

According to recent data released by China’s National Bureau of Statistics, the country’s GDP is estimated to reach 1,401.9 trillion yuan in 2025, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 5% at constant prices. This achievement symbolizes the successful completion of China’s key economic and social development goals for the year, as well as the conclusion of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). Despite facing complex and challenging internal and external environments, the Chinese economy has demonstrated strong resilience.

Significantly, China’s export trade showed robust performance in 2025, effectively driving economic growth. Amid a difficult global economic and trade landscape and complicated China-US trade relations, China has balanced changes in trade with the US by expanding into diverse international markets, maintaining overall stability in its foreign trade.

Hu Weijun, Chief Economist for Greater China at Australian investment bank Macquarie Group, noted, “As observed, the trade war has not dealt a major blow to China.”

International analysts believe that despite numerous challenges in global trade and finance, China’s 5% growth rate highlights its role as a key engine of global economic development and its significant influence on global markets and supply chains.

International institutions are closely monitoring China’s economic growth rate for 2026. The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have recently forecast growth rates of 4.4% and 4.5% respectively, while US investment bank Goldman Sachs projects a 4.8% increase.
