Jaipur, May 20: In an exhilarating match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Mitchell Marsh showcased his explosive batting once again, thrilling fans. However, it was unfortunate for Marsh as he missed the chance to complete a century for the second consecutive match.
After LSG’s innings, Marsh commented on the challenges faced, stating, “I felt they bowled well in the end. We probably missed one, two, or three more boundaries. If that had happened, we would have been really happy, but credit goes to them; they made a good comeback and bowled exceptionally well.”
Reflecting on his partnership with Josh Inglis, Marsh said, “We have seen the game change over the last five years. Five years ago, scoring 220 runs would give you a lot of confidence. That’s not the case now. We need to bowl well and execute our plans effectively. As for my partnership with Josh, we play a lot of cricket together. His style of play takes a lot of pressure off me. We complement each other well.”
Regarding his unfortunate run out that cost him a century, Marsh remarked, “It was just bad luck. Perhaps it was meant to be.”
Marsh and Inglis built a solid opening partnership, scoring 109 runs in just 8.2 overs. Inglis contributed 60 runs off 29 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 7 fours before getting out. Marsh scored 96 runs off 57 balls, including 5 sixes and 11 fours, before being run out by Yashasvi Jaiswal. Rishabh Pant added 35 runs off 23 balls. LSG set a target of 221 runs for RR after their innings.
