IPL 2026: Suryaanshis Explosive Innings Leads Rajasthan Royals to Victory Over LSG

Jaipur, May 20: Rajasthan Royals (RR) triumphed over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by seven wickets in the 64th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. This victory propelled the Royals to fourth place in the points table.

With this win, RR has secured seven victories out of 13 matches, while LSG, having lost nine out of 13, is already out of the playoff race. If the Royals manage to defeat Mumbai Indians on May 24, they will clinch the final playoff spot.

In a crucial match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, LSG, batting first after losing the toss, scored 220 runs for the loss of five wickets. Mitchell Marsh and Jos Inglis formed a formidable partnership, amassing 109 runs for the first wicket off just 50 balls.

Inglis scored 60 runs off 29 balls, hitting three sixes and seven fours before returning to the pavilion. Marsh then teamed up with Nicholas Pooran to add 42 runs for the second wicket in 24 balls. Pooran was dismissed for 16 runs, but Marsh continued to build the innings with captain Rishabh Pant, adding 64 runs for the third wicket in 41 balls.

Marsh narrowly missed his half-century, scoring 96 runs off 57 balls, including five sixes and eleven fours. Pant contributed 35 runs off 23 balls, hitting two sixes and two fours. For the opposition, Yash Raj took two wickets for 35 runs, while Jofra Archer claimed one wicket.

In a must-win scenario, Rajasthan Royals chased down the target in just 19.1 overs. The opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryaanshi provided a strong start, putting together a partnership of 75 runs off 39 balls. Jaiswal scored 43 runs off 23 balls, featuring nine boundaries.

Suryaanshi then partnered with Dhruv Jurel, adding 105 runs for the second wicket in 45 balls, taking the team to a total of 180 runs. Suryaanshi scored an impressive 93 runs off 38 balls, hitting ten sixes and seven fours before getting out. Jurel took charge thereafter, scoring an unbeaten 53 runs off 38 balls, with three sixes and as many fours, while Donovan Ferreira remained not out on 16 runs off ten balls. For LSG, Akash Maharaj Singh and Mohsin Khan each took one wicket.
