
Patna, May 20: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary chaired two high-level meetings at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday, focusing on India-Nepal border management and the expansion of civil aviation infrastructure in the state.
During the review meeting held in the ‘Samvad’ hall, the Chief Minister assessed the security arrangements along the India-Nepal border, labeling it an extremely sensitive area.
Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit reported that a prior high-level meeting on border security took place on February 26-27, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during which compliance reports on directives issued were presented.
Emphasizing strict implementation, the Chief Minister instructed officials to enhance monitoring and security infrastructure at the border. He urged the use of advanced technology for surveillance, maintaining vigilance against suspicious activities, and taking action against drug trafficking and counterfeit currency.
He made it clear that any form of laxity would not be tolerated and called for stringent action against all illegal activities in border areas.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
In a separate meeting held in the Sankalp hall, Chief Minister Chaudhary reviewed aviation projects with officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Bihar’s Civil Aviation Department.
Secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Deore provided a detailed presentation highlighting key initiatives, including airport modernization, expansion of air connectivity, strengthening security infrastructure, and the implementation of flight plans.
Senior official Sameer Kumar Sinha suggested runway expansion and capacity enhancement at Patna Airport.
Some major proposals discussed included runway expansion and capacity increase at Patna Airport, granting international status to Darbhanga Airport, the Ajgaibinath Dham Greenfield Airport project, establishing a permanent civil enclave at Purnea Airport, and developing airports in Muzaffarpur, Valmikinagar, Saharsa, and Birpur, along with upgrading Forbesganj Airport and including more airports under the flight plan.
