Rajasthan Government Assures Adequate Fuel Supply Amid Rising Demand

Jaipur, May 20: The Rajasthan government has reassured citizens that there is no need for panic regarding the availability of petrol and diesel. The Food and Civil Supplies Department confirmed that the state has a sufficient stock of petroleum products and that supply is proceeding normally.

On Tuesday, officials reported that public sector oil companies, including Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, are ensuring uninterrupted supply of petrol and diesel across the state.

Ambreesh Kumar, Secretary of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, stated that petrol pumps in various districts of Rajasthan have ample petrol and diesel available. He urged the public to ignore rumors and to purchase fuel as usual.

Kumar noted that the retail price of diesel at government oil company outlets is approximately ₹94 per liter, while private petrol pumps are charging around ₹97 per liter for the same. This price difference has led many consumers to prefer public sector petrol pumps.

He also mentioned that the current price of institutional diesel is about ₹160 per liter. This has prompted several industries and bulk consumers to buy diesel from retail petrol pumps, resulting in increased pressure in some areas. However, oil companies are prioritizing the needs of regular consumers and maintaining a steady supply.

According to representatives from oil companies, there has been a significant increase in the demand for petrol and diesel in Rajasthan compared to last year. Indian Oil Corporation Limited reported a 28% increase in petrol sales and a 43% increase in diesel sales. In contrast, other states saw increases of 20.2% and 20.8%, respectively.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited recorded a 13.7% rise in petrol sales and a 16.8% rise in diesel sales, while Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited noted over a 24% increase in petrol sales and more than 30% in diesel sales.

The government has assured that despite the rising demand, there is no shortage of fuel in the state, and the supply of petrol and diesel will continue uninterrupted for the public.
