Udaipur (Patrika English News): HDFC Bank, India’s leading private sector bank, conducted a virtual awareness session on safe digital banking practices, educating more than 1,000 teachers from schools and colleges across India. The initiative aimed to build awareness and protect citizens from online frauds and cyber scams.
The session used real-life examples, stories, and videos to explain the modus operandi of fraudsters, covering threats like vishing, phishing, smishing, SIM swaps, UPI frauds, fake job offers, digital arrests, and courier scams. HDFC Bank has been conducting such cyber fraud awareness workshops for the past four years under its Secure Banking initiative.

“Lack of awareness causes people to fall for cyber frauds. It is therefore essential to sensitise people so that they do not share confidential banking data or click on unverified links. The objective of these sessions has been to equip educators with the right knowledge to navigate the online world safely.”

The bank urged customers to:
Stay alert and adopt safe banking practices while transacting digitally.
Report unauthorized transactions immediately to the bank.
Block the payment mode to avoid further losses.
File complaints by calling the 1930 helpline launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) or submit reports on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (https://cybercrime.gov.in).
