Punjab Police Uncovers BKI Module, Arrests Two with Hand Grenades

Chandigarh, May 20: Punjab Police has successfully dismantled a module linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), arresting two associates of operators based abroad. This was confirmed by Punjab’s Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, on Tuesday.

The police seized two hand grenades from the suspects. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ajay from Bajigar Mohalla in Ajnala, Amritsar, and Jodhbir Singh from Fatehwal Kalan.

In addition to the grenades, the police confiscated a motorcycle belonging to the accused.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigations revealed the grenades were part of a larger conspiracy aimed at disrupting peace and law enforcement in the state. The plan involved targeting government institutions and infrastructure.

He noted that police teams received credible information indicating that operators abroad had supplied hand grenades to their associates, instructing them to meet another accomplice in the Loharka Road area of Amritsar.

Acting swiftly on this information, the police set up a blockade and apprehended Ajay and Jodhbir Singh. During the search, the two hand grenades were recovered.

DGP Yadav mentioned that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts to identify other individuals connected to this network.

Just a day earlier, Punjab Police had also uncovered a counterfeit currency racket, arresting four individuals and seizing fake Indian currency worth 550,000 rupees.

The arrested suspects were identified as Nazar Khan, Raj Mohammad, Mukhtiar Singh, and Asif Ali.

DGP Yadav confirmed that all the recovered counterfeit notes were in denominations of 500 rupees.

Initial investigations revealed that Raj Mohammad has a prior criminal record, with a case registered against him under the NDPS Act.
