
Chandigarh, February 27: Chandigarh has once again faced bomb threats directed at the Punjab Secretariat and several schools. Four major private schools in the city received emails threatening bomb attacks. The threats specified that the Punjab Secretariat would be targeted at 3:11 PM, while the schools were warned at 1 PM.
Previously, on February 19, the Punjab Secretariat in Sector 9 of Chandigarh also received a bomb threat. Following that incident, police implemented strict security measures and conducted a search operation.
According to reports, the threat to the Secretariat was communicated via email on Thursday. Emergency services, including fire brigade officials, bomb squads, and dog units, were dispatched to the scene. A significant police presence was established at the Secretariat, but no suspicious items or explosives were found during the search.
It is noteworthy that threats against educational institutions, courts, and government offices occur daily across various parts of the country. On February 19, numerous schools in Noida, adjacent to Delhi, received threatening emails regarding bomb attacks.
In Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, a university was thrown into chaos after receiving a bomb threat. As a precaution, the university building was evacuated, and security forces were deployed. The threat was also communicated via email, warning of a bomb attack on the university’s premises.
Earlier this month, on February 17, bomb threats were reported at the High Court bench in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. Last week, courts in Ramnagar and Nainital, Uttarakhand, were also threatened, causing widespread panic. An email sent under the name ‘All India Judges Association’ claimed that 12 RDX bombs and IEDs had been planted in judges’ chambers. However, police investigations revealed no suspicious items.
