Moscow, May 19: Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the relationship between Russia and China has reached an unprecedented level. Both nations are prepared to support each other on crucial issues regarding sovereignty.
In a video message prior to his visit to Beijing, Putin expressed his excitement about the trip, stating, “I am very pleased to visit China at the invitation of my long-time good friend, President Xi Jinping.”
According to the Russian President, regular high-level discussions between Russia and China play a vital role in advancing their relationship and strengthening broad cooperation.
He noted that the “Good Neighborly and Friendly Cooperation Treaty,” signed 25 years ago, laid the foundation for a robust strategic partnership, which has now evolved to an “unprecedented level.”
Putin emphasized that the ties between the two countries are based on mutual understanding, trust, and equality. They collaborate on safeguarding each other’s core interests and sovereignty.
He also mentioned that Russia and China are continuously enhancing their political, economic, and defense relations. People-to-people connections are increasing, along with significant cultural exchanges.
President Putin stated that both countries are taking steps to deepen bilateral cooperation, making their future paths easier. The visa-free arrangement between Russia and China has facilitated tourism and business travel, enhancing contact between their populations.
Regarding economic collaboration, he highlighted that “trade between the two countries has now exceeded $200 billion and is rapidly growing.”
Additionally, he revealed that Russia and China have begun conducting most of their trade transactions in their national currencies (ruble and yuan), further strengthening economic ties.
