Yamaha XSR 155 Emerges as Best-Selling Model with 50% Sales Jump

Yamaha India witnessed a remarkable surge in December 2025, driven primarily by the outstanding performance of the Yamaha XSR 155. This neo-retro styled motorcycle quickly became the company’s best-selling model, contributing significantly to a nearly 50% growth in overall sales.

In December 2025, Yamaha recorded total domestic sales of 54,914 units, marking a 49.3% increase compared to 36,780 units sold in the same month the previous year. The key factor behind this sharp rise was the strong demand for the Yamaha XSR 155.

During its first full month on the market, the XSR 155 sold 14,951 units, accounting for more than 25% of Yamaha’s total domestic sales. Its unique combination of neo-retro design, powerful performance, and modern features quickly captured the interest of young riders.

Other Yamaha models also showed mixed results. The RayZR scooter achieved sales of 14,153 units, with a year-on-year growth of 17.92%. The FZ series sold 10,291 units, up 20.25% from last year, while the Yamaha R15 posted a 27.73% increase with 5,453 units sold.

However, some models experienced a decline in sales. The Fascino scooter saw a 15.43% drop, Aerox sales fell by 17.39%, and MT-15 sales decreased by 15.72%. The R3 and MT-03 registered minimal sales, with only two units sold combined. Despite these declines, the XSR 155’s exceptional demand helped Yamaha maintain strong overall growth.

The Yamaha XSR 155 is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled engine featuring Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology that delivers 18.1 bhp of power and 14.2 Nm of torque. It comes equipped with a 6-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch. The bike is built on Yamaha’s Deltabox frame, the same platform used for the R15 and MT-15 models.

In terms of suspension and safety, the XSR 155 includes USD front forks, a rear monoshock, front and rear disc brakes measuring 282mm and 220mm respectively, dual-channel ABS, and traction control for enhanced riding confidence.

The bike’s neo-retro design sets it apart, featuring a round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, flat single-piece seat, and a fully digital instrument cluster. It competes directly with models like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin.

The success of the Yamaha XSR 155 highlights the perfect blend of style, performance, and reliability, marking a significant milestone for Yamaha India as it closes 2025 on a strong note.
