BJP President Nitin Naveen Visits Karnataka for the First Time After Taking Office

Bengaluru, May 23: Nitin Naveen, the newly appointed President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will arrive in Bengaluru on Saturday evening for his first visit to Karnataka since taking office. This visit is significant as it marks his introduction to the state’s political landscape.

During a press conference at the state BJP office, BY Vijayendra, the Karnataka BJP President, shared details about Naveen’s itinerary. The visit will include meetings with senior party leaders, legislators, and party workers.

On Sunday morning, Naveen will have breakfast at the residence of former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa. Following this, he will visit the Kadumalleshwara Temple for prayers before arriving at the state BJP headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, around 10 AM.

Vijayendra mentioned that Naveen will engage in discussions with BJP MPs, MLAs, and members of the Legislative Council for approximately two hours to review the current political situation in the state. He will also participate in a core committee meeting and later join a training camp being held in the Bengaluru North district.

“This is a proud moment for us as the BJP President is attending this training program. His presence will inspire our party workers,” Vijayendra stated.

He defended the central government’s recent hike in fuel prices, attributing it to global events and international market conditions. “The government had to increase fuel prices for the third time due to unavoidable circumstances arising from the global situation. Although the government did not wish to take such a step, it was compelled to make this tough decision,” he explained.

Vijayendra also criticized Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, recalling his previous statement about reducing fuel prices. “Siddaramaiah had promised to cut fuel prices by 10 rupees. Now, in the interest of the people, he should reduce the state tax on fuel,” he urged.

He called on the Karnataka government to respond to the situation, emphasizing that the Chief Minister should understand the current global conditions and lower the additional taxes on petrol and diesel in the state.

Additionally, Vijayendra criticized Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge, suggesting that instead of targeting the BJP, he should advise the state government. “Instead of lecturing the BJP, Priyank Kharge should ask the state government to reduce the additional taxes on petrol and diesel and set an example for the country. He should provide counsel to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on this matter,” he added.
