Mumbai, May 23: The issue of stray dogs has become a hot topic across various states in India. Recently, the Punjab government’s proposal to remove stray dogs from the streets and euthanize those deemed dangerous has intensified the debate. In response, Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon has voiced her concerns.
In an emotional appeal to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Tandon emphasized the need to handle this situation with humanity and compassion.
In her Instagram post, she stated, “The recent Supreme Court decision has sparked discussions nationwide. While public safety is crucial, it is equally important to maintain compassion and balance when implementing this ruling. Animals deserve to be treated with humanity.”
Tandon also suggested several measures to address the issue effectively. She mentioned that sterilization, vaccination, proper care, and safe shelter for stray dogs could benefit both humans and animals. “Simply enforcing strict measures will not resolve the problem; we need to take steps with understanding and sensitivity,” she added.
She further urged collaboration among the government, animal welfare organizations, and experts to manage this sensitive issue more effectively. “Punjab can demonstrate both responsibility and kindness in this matter,” Tandon said.
In her post’s conclusion, she remarked, “A society is judged by how it treats its voiceless beings.”
Reactions to the Punjab government’s plan are pouring in on social media. While some support the government’s decision, others advocate for animal rights. Prior to Tandon, actress Sonam Bajwa also appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister regarding this issue, urging for compassion towards animals.
