Imphal, May 23: In response to the current situation in Manipur, the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully airlifted 132 NCC cadets to Guwahati and Jorhat on Saturday.
A senior official reported that these young cadets had participated in the NCC North Eastern Region (NER) flying camp held in Imphal from May 11 to May 20, 2026. Due to the prevailing security conditions and restrictions on road travel, they were evacuated via emergency airlift to Guwahati and Jorhat.
The airlift was coordinated by the NCC NER Directorate in consultation with the Director General of the NCC Headquarters and the Eastern Air Command Headquarters.
This swift action ensured that the cadets reached their destinations safely and on time for their examinations, providing immense relief and joy to their parents and families.
The cadets expressed heartfelt gratitude for the care and timely assistance they received. Special thanks were extended to the Defense Minister, the Ministry of Defense, and the Indian Air Force for their unwavering support.
In a follow-up post, the NCC Directorate North Eastern Region acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry of Defense, IAF, and the NCC Directorate for the rapid airlift operation conducted under challenging conditions in Manipur.
The post further highlighted that this successful airlift exemplifies teamwork, care, and a steadfast commitment to the well-being of the cadets and national unity.
Additionally, the NCC Directorate noted that the IAF facilitated the timely airlift of cadets stranded in Imphal after the conclusion of the Air Wing NCC camp on May 20. Due to the current situation in Manipur, cadets from Jorhat and Guwahati were unable to return home by road.
On May 23, the IAF conducted a special airlift operation using three AN-32 aircraft, transporting 60 cadets to Jorhat and 72 to Guwahati. This immediate assistance provided much-needed relief and peace of mind to anxious parents.
