Meizu has officially cancelled the launch of its much-anticipated smartphone, the Meizu 22 Air. This announcement was made during the company’s 2026 Meizu Fan Spring Festival event held in China. Wan Zhiqiang, the Chief Marketing Officer of Meizu Group, explained that a sharp increase in memory prices created significant challenges in planning the smartphone’s production, ultimately leading to the decision to cancel the launch.

Despite the cancellation, Meizu revealed the design details of the Meizu 22 Air at the event. The phone features a horizontally aligned rear camera setup, resembling the design style of the iPhone Air. A notable feature includes a customizable pixel-style emotion light on the back, capable of displaying various patterns to reflect the user’s mood.
The device’s frame includes a two-stage customizable mode button, adding to its personalization options. The back panel of the Meizu 22 Air incorporates a PIN-based modular design. Meizu also presented a magnetic back cover concept that enables users to swap covers easily, changing the phone’s appearance. Alongside the announcement about the cancelled smartphone, Meizu introduced a new AI-centric product called the Meizu 22 Next AI Cube. This compact device features a 4-inch form factor and operates as a standalone 5G-enabled AI terminal.
