New Delhi, May 21: The controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah is intensifying. Alok Kumar, the national president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, has questioned Gandhi’s choice of words, asserting that leaders in constitutional positions should communicate with decorum.
In a recent conversation, Kumar emphasized that Gandhi seems to forget his role as the leader of the opposition and the responsibilities that come with it. He stated, “Shouldn’t ‘Ji’ be added after PM Modi’s name? Can we say ‘Narendra Modi says’?” He reflected on how previous leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L.K. Advani maintained a standard of respect in their public statements.
Kumar criticized Gandhi for making direct accusations of betrayal and for suggesting that difficult times lie ahead. He questioned whether these challenges are only for India, pointing out the ongoing tensions between Iran and the U.S. He noted that if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, it could lead to crises in oil, food, and gas supplies. This is why the Prime Minister has appealed to the nation for some sacrifices.
Kumar further challenged Gandhi’s claims that Modi is to blame for the current situation, asking if the Prime Minister has instigated any wars or halted oil shipments. He attributed the ongoing issues to the egos of two nations.
He also remarked on the desperation stemming from the Congress party’s continuous electoral defeats, suggesting that such statements reflect a mental void and a lack of decorum.
Regarding allegations that Gandhi is undermining the Constitution and disrespecting Ambedkar, Kumar dismissed these claims as unfounded. He accused the Congress party of systematically devaluing constitutional institutions, citing their attempts to remove the Chief Election Commissioner and judges, as well as bringing motions against the Lok Sabha Speaker. He warned that tarnishing constitutional bodies harms democracy.
Kumar criticized the accusations against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), asserting that it continues to thrive after a century and will keep progressing, leaving Congress to face the consequences.
Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad spokesperson Vinod Bansal commented on the newly formed government in Kerala, suggesting it is trying to survive with a mindset influenced by the Muslim League. He stated that such remarks indicate Congress is heading towards its final journey. He added, “A person who uses such language against their country’s Prime Minister is the biggest traitor.”
Bansal concluded by condemning Congress for what he described as a “jihadist mentality” that undermines the very system that sustains them.
