Woman Arrested with Drugs in Reasi, Third NDPS Case Registered

Reasi, May 21: In a continued effort against drug trafficking under the ‘Drug-Free Campaign’ in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, police arrested a woman in Reasi district on Wednesday, seizing 58 grams of cannabis.

According to police reports, the woman already has two prior cases registered against her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, one in January and another in April this year.

On May 19, a team from Katra police station stopped a woman during a routine check at Varun Chowk. During the search, 58 grams of cannabis was found in her possession.

The accused has been identified as Sanjana, a resident of Amritsar, who is currently living in Saraswati Chowk, Reasi. Following this recent seizure, a third case has been registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Katra police station.

Police have stated that further investigations are ongoing. They have appealed to the public to share information related to drug trafficking and abuse to help eliminate the threat of narcotics and foster a drug-free society.

Meanwhile, police in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir announced on Wednesday that they have destroyed illegal opium cultivation as part of the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign.’

During this ongoing 100-day initiative, police are conducting aggressive anti-drug operations throughout the Union Territory. The campaign aims to protect future generations from addiction, with Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha describing it as a battle against narco-terrorism.
