Bareilly, April 4: Maulana Mufti Shahabuddin Rizvi Berelvi, the National President of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has sharply criticized BJP leader Navneet Rana’s recent remarks. He stated that Rana is fearful of Muslim women, which prompted her claim that a woman wearing a burqa cannot become a Chief Minister or Mayor.
In a conversation, Maulana Rizvi said, “Navneet Rana’s assertion, in response to MLA Humayun Kabir’s comments, reflects her fear of Muslim women. As a woman herself, she should refrain from making such statements about women from other communities. She needs to look at history; many women are currently serving as Mayors across the country.”
Citing the example of the Mayor of Malegaon, he added, “Navneet Rana should visit and see for herself. A woman named Fatima has also served as Chief Minister in Assam. There are numerous examples of Muslim women leaders. Her issue is not with the burqa but with Muslim women themselves.”
Previously, Navneet Rana had retaliated against Humayun Kabir’s comments regarding the burqa. She stated, “Even if seven generations of Humayun Kabir were to come down, no woman wearing a burqa can become a Mayor in West Bengal or anywhere else in the country. Humayun Kabir should think a hundred times before dreaming about such possibilities.”
She emphasized that this land belongs to the ideals of Lord Ram and the Constitution established by B.R. Ambedkar. Navneet Rana also remarked, “India cannot be secular until Muslim countries leave.”
