Gandhinagar, June 3: The Gujarat government has taken a significant step to bolster its agriculture sector by issuing appointment letters to 415 new agricultural assistants. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel symbolically handed over the appointment letters to 21 newly appointed assistants during a modest ceremony at the Chief Minister’s office in Gandhinagar.
This event was organized in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of frugality and national responsibility amid global challenges. Instead of a grand ceremony, the government opted for a simple and dignified approach to distribute the appointment letters, reflecting its commitment to responsible use of public resources, good governance, and financial discipline.
The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB) conducted the recruitment process transparently, selecting qualified candidates. The newly appointed agricultural assistants will primarily energize the agricultural infrastructure in the Rajkot and Vadodara divisions.
The government believes that increasing the staff in the agriculture department at the local level will enable farmers to benefit from schemes more effectively. This will enhance the reach and impact of important government initiatives such as the I-Khedut portal, natural farming, and the millet mission.
Additionally, improvements in the accuracy and efficiency of administrative tasks within agriculture department offices are anticipated. The new agricultural assistants will provide better guidance to farmers and strengthen the accessibility of agricultural services in rural areas.
The government also clarified that it will enhance legal oversight to ensure the availability of quality seeds and fertilizers. The deployment of new agricultural assistants will play a crucial role in this regard.
