Assam Government Prioritizes Tea Garden Communities and Rural Development, Says CM Sarma

Guwahati, June 3: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Tuesday that the state government is fully committed to the welfare and development of communities residing in tea garden areas and rural regions. He emphasized that the promises made to the public during the election campaign will be fulfilled in a phased manner.

In a conversation with journalists, the Chief Minister noted that the government received numerous suggestions and feedback from tea garden areas and rural regions during the election campaign. Residents raised various issues and demands related to housing, agriculture, employment, and basic amenities, all of which are being addressed seriously.

He mentioned that ministers and party workers visited several villages and tea garden areas during the campaign. Local residents highlighted long-standing demands and issues, particularly the need for better housing facilities and development plans for economically weaker families.

The Chief Minister asserted that the state government is working with a clear vision to strengthen agriculture and rural development. The government aims to create sustainable livelihood opportunities in rural areas, enhance infrastructure, and expand welfare schemes in tea garden regions.

Himanta Biswa Sarma also acknowledged that the central government is continuously providing support for various development and welfare projects in Assam. Improved coordination between the state and central governments will accelerate projects related to rural connectivity, social welfare schemes, and agricultural development.

He reported that during public dialogue programs held in different parts of the state, many suggestions and memorandums were received from villagers. The government will maintain communication with local communities and other stakeholders to effectively address their issues.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the development of tea garden areas is among the state government’s top priorities. He assured that special efforts will be made to ensure that government schemes benefit every eligible family.

Discussing the overall development of the state, Sarma stated that Assam can become stronger through balanced progress in agriculture, rural economy, and social welfare. He affirmed that the government will continue to work inclusively for long-term development across all sectors in the state.
