
Bhopal, June 3: Governor Mangubhai Patel emphasized that the Foundation Day celebrations are not just a reminder of the administrative formation of states but also an opportunity to draw inspiration from their struggles, cultural heritage, and developmental journeys. He stated that India’s geographical, linguistic, and cultural diversity is its greatest strength and the foundation of a strong, prosperous, and self-reliant nation. He highlighted that Sikkim’s environmental model, Goa’s tourism, the fishing industry, and Telangana’s technological innovations are crucial pillars for nation-building.
Governor Patel addressed the joint celebrations for the Foundation Days of Goa, Sikkim, and Telangana. He extended his best wishes to the residents of these states. The event was organized at the Sandipani Auditorium in Lok Bhavan under the “Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat” initiative. The Governor’s Principal Secretary, Dr. Navneet Mohan Kothari, was also present.
He noted that the spirit of “Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat” serves as a strong foundation for the unity, integrity, and overall development of the country. The event showcased a collective commitment to national unity in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India. He urged all citizens to contribute their best to the nation’s reconstruction and to further strengthen the spirit of “Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat.”
During the event, he welcomed the youth from IIT Dhanbad, encouraging them to draw inspiration from the martyr Bhagwan Birsa Munda for contributing to a developed India by 2047. He remarked that the youth are the center of hope for families and the nation, urging them to strive to become good individuals in their future lives.
Governor Patel praised Telangana’s historical heritage, cultural diversity, and modern development, which enrich India’s unique identity. He acknowledged the state’s glorious traditions, architectural beauty, and historical significance as invaluable national heritage.
He also celebrated Goa’s historical legacy, maritime wealth, and the cultural amalgamation of Indian and Western traditions, which contribute to the nation’s strength. Goa is not only a major tourist destination but also a land of inspiration for the courageous struggle for national consciousness and liberation from colonial rule. He congratulated the people of Sikkim on becoming the fifth fully literate state in the country, noting that Sikkim’s natural beauty, spiritual tranquility, and sustainable development model bolster India’s global identity.
The ceremony featured video messages of goodwill from the governors of Sikkim, Goa, and Telangana. Short films showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Goa, Sikkim, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh were also presented.
Cultural performances included a captivating solo dance based on Annamacharya Kirtanam by Telugu Sangham Bhopal. Young artists showcased a group dance that reflects the unique blend of Rajasthan and South India’s cultural heritage, rooted in Rajasthan’s Banjara culture, along with group dances dedicated to Lord Rama at the famous Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple in Bhadrachalam.
Dr. Mrigendra Dubey, an associate professor at IIT Indore, provided insights about the youth gathering. He described the event as an unforgettable conclusion to the six-day tour of Madhya Pradesh by the youth from IIT Dhanbad.
At the beginning of the ceremony, representatives from the Goan community, Christopher F. Naronha and P.V. Fernandes, along with Chandramohan Naidu from Telugu Sangham Bhopal, honored the Governor with a memento. The Governor was welcomed with a bouquet and an artwork presented by young members of Telugu Sangham. The program concluded with gratitude expressed by Dr. B. Lakshminarayana Reddy, Deputy Director of Technical Education. The event was conducted by Shilpi Diwakar, Controller of Household Lok Bhavan.
The Foundation Day celebrations were attended by IPS officer Krishnaweni Desvatu from Madhya Pradesh, the Governor’s Deputy Secretary Sunil Dubey, Dr. Suresh Kumar VY, Assistant Professor at IIT Dhanbad, along with a delegation of 59 youth from the institute, representatives from Goa, Telangana, and Sikkim, academics, administrative officials, and members of cultural organizations.
