Chennai, June 2: Following a significant drop in its vote share during the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) is focused on reinforcing its organizational network. The party is undertaking extensive efforts to enhance its presence both at the grassroots level and on digital platforms by restructuring its Information Technology (IT) wing.
This restructuring comes after the party’s vote share plummeted from 8.1 percent in the last assembly elections to approximately 4 percent in the recent polls, prompting an internal evaluation of the reasons behind this electoral setback.
As part of this initiative, NTK has begun recruiting volunteers for its IT wing on a district and constituency basis throughout Tamil Nadu. Dedicated coordinators have been appointed to oversee this effort, and the party has issued WhatsApp contact numbers to facilitate the recruitment of members interested in participating in its digital outreach initiatives.
According to party sources, the new IT wing will operate as a statewide network responsible for documenting and promoting NTK’s grassroots activities. Volunteers will be tasked with gathering and sharing information related to party events, including protests, rallies, blood donation drives, tree planting campaigns, educational support initiatives, welfare activities, and public grievances.
Participants will need to upload photos, videos, event reports, dates, and location details through designated WhatsApp groups. The content collected from various districts will be compiled and disseminated through NTK’s official social media channels and digital platforms to enhance the party’s public visibility.
This restructuring follows a comprehensive review conducted under the guidance of NTK’s chief coordinator, Seeman. According to insiders, the evaluation concluded that the party’s electoral message during the assembly elections failed to adequately highlight its social and welfare work over the past 15 years. Instead, a significant portion of the campaign and online discussions focused on criticizing the newly formed party, Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician Vijay.
The review reportedly found that many supporters and social media volunteers concentrated their efforts on attacking TVK rather than promoting NTK’s policies, programs, and organizational achievements.
