New Delhi, June 3: Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai held crucial meetings with top party leadership in New Delhi on Tuesday. These discussions come amid ongoing speculations regarding his future role within the BJP and reports of dissatisfaction with recent developments in the state unit.
Annamalai met with BJP National President Nitin Naveen, National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The meetings, which concluded on Tuesday, reportedly focused on the political situation in Tamil Nadu and Annamalai’s future pathway within the party.
Sources indicate that Annamalai briefed the senior leadership on recent political events in the state and clarified the reasons behind his alleged thoughts of parting ways with the party. He expressed concerns regarding recent organizational developments within the Tamil Nadu BJP and presented his assessment of the political challenges facing the party in the state.
The BJP leadership advised Annamalai not to make any immediate decisions and to wait for further discussions to conclude. Senior leaders assured him that the issues he raised would be internally discussed before the party clarifies its stance.
The significance of these meetings has increased amid rising political speculation regarding Annamalai’s future role following his resignation from the Tamil Nadu BJP presidency earlier this year. Despite rumors of his dissatisfaction, neither Annamalai nor the BJP leadership has publicly commented on the details of the discussions.
Annamalai is expected to remain in New Delhi until Wednesday evening, increasing the likelihood of additional meetings with senior leaders before returning to Chennai.
Meanwhile, the current president of Tamil Nadu BJP, Nainar Nagendran, is scheduled to arrive in the national capital on Wednesday morning. According to party sources, Nagendran will hold separate meetings with senior BJP leaders during his visit.
The timing of Nagendran’s visit, immediately following Annamalai’s meetings with central leadership, has sparked political interest in Tamil Nadu. Although BJP leaders have remained silent on the developments, these ongoing meetings are being closely monitored in the context of preparations for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
With both Annamalai and Nagendran engaging in separate discussions with the BJP high command in Delhi, speculation continues regarding potential organizational and political decisions related to the Tamil Nadu unit in the coming weeks.
