Bihar Chief Minister Reviews New Criminal Laws and ICJS Implementation

Patna, June 2: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary chaired a high-level review meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence. The meeting focused on the implementation of three new criminal laws and the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS). Senior officials from the Home Department participated in the discussions.

During the meeting, the need to strengthen a transparent, technology-driven, and citizen-centric law enforcement and justice delivery framework was emphasized. Officials assessed the progress of ongoing initiatives aimed at modernizing the criminal justice system and improving coordination between law enforcement and judicial departments.

The meeting highlighted the importance of leveraging modern technology to make the justice delivery mechanism more efficient, accessible, and responsive to citizens’ needs. Officials were instructed to ensure that technological tools are effectively integrated into administrative and legal processes to enhance service delivery and reduce procedural delays.

There was also a strong emphasis on raising public awareness about the Citizen Service Portal. Officials were directed to conduct extensive public relations and awareness campaigns to ensure that citizens fully utilize the services and facilities available on digital platforms.

A key objective of the review meeting was to strengthen the quick hearing mechanism to ensure timely resolution of pending criminal cases. Officials were tasked with streamlining legal and administrative processes for expedited hearings to provide justice more efficiently.

The meeting stressed the necessity of swift case resolution to maintain public trust in the justice system and ensure accountability. The importance of strengthening information-sharing mechanisms among various government departments and agencies was also highlighted.

Officials were instructed to improve coordination and communication channels to ensure seamless information exchange, thereby enhancing administrative efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Better inter-departmental cooperation was identified as a crucial factor for the successful implementation of new legal and technological frameworks.

CM Samrat Chaudhary directed district magistrates and police superintendents across the state to regularly engage with representatives from industries, businesses, and key institutions. Through these meetings, officials are expected to understand concerns related to security, business operations, and administrative support, and implement necessary corrective measures where needed.

The aim is to create a safe and business-friendly environment that promotes investment, economic activity, and institutional development.
