
Bengaluru, June 3: A significant chapter is set to begin in Karnataka as D.K. Shivakumar, the designated Chief Minister, will take his oath on Wednesday at the Glass House in Vidhana Soudha.
Alongside him, members of the council of ministers will also take their oaths. Governor Thawarchand Gehlot will administer the oaths during this ceremony.
According to a statement from Shivakumar’s office, several prominent national leaders from the Congress party will attend the event. Among them are Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary (Organization) K.C. Venugopal, and Karnataka in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala.
Additionally, Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, state Congress presidents, MPs, and senior party leaders from various states are expected to participate. Religious leaders from different faiths have also been invited. Students from the government school in Dodda Halli, Kanakapura, along with representatives from labor unions, sanitation workers, farmers’ organizations, Dalit leaders, backward class representatives, women’s self-help groups, female leaders, and youth leaders have also received invitations.
The ceremony will include members from the media, film industry, judiciary, sports, theater, literature, arts, industry, and hospitality sectors. This inclusive approach is seen as a commitment by the new government to engage all sections of society.
A day before the oath-taking, D.K. Shivakumar expressed that his leadership will mark the beginning of a new era for the youth of Karnataka. He emphasized that becoming Chief Minister is not just a personal achievement but a victory for every Congress worker. He stated, “This journey has not been easy. There were delays, but an opportunity has arisen. Now, it is my responsibility to work for the development of the state, bringing together farmers, women, youth, and every section of society.”
