West Bengal Citizens Join the Fight to Save Democracy: Mahua Moitra

Kolkata, April 29: In the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, several prominent leaders and candidates exercised their voting rights, urging citizens to participate actively in the electoral process. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra cast her vote at a polling station in the Karimipur area of Nadia district.

After voting, she stated that this time, the people are participating in the fight to save democracy. She also mentioned that those whose names are not on the voter list will find a way to vote, indicating a high voter turnout. Moitra claimed that voters are casting their ballots with a sense of retribution this time.

In Kolkata, TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee displayed the ink on his finger after voting, signaling a victory. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also visited a polling station in South Kolkata to monitor the voting process.

Voting is proceeding peacefully in the Katwa Assembly constituency as well. TMC candidate Rabindranath Chatterjee voted at Katwa Bharati Bhawan School and showed his inked finger, confirming he had exercised his voting rights. He reported that everything was in order at the polling station, with no issues, and the process was running smoothly.

In the Champadani Assembly area of Hooghly district, TMC candidate Arindam Guin voted alongside his wife and daughter, presenting a family-oriented and inspiring image. Meanwhile, CPI(M) leader Sujan Chakraborty also exercised his voting rights in Sonarpur.

At booths 119 and 120 in Karimipur, central forces were seen assisting elderly voters, ensuring they reached the polling stations safely, making the voting process more accessible and inclusive.

It is noteworthy that the counting of votes will take place on May 4, following the completion of the second phase of elections.
