New Delhi, May 30: The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has made significant strides in a crackdown against a module linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI, and the Mumbai underworld. Nine individuals have been arrested, with several others detained for questioning.
Authorities believe this network was active across various regions of the country, utilizing social media and other channels to connect with individuals.
During the investigation, around 600 people were identified as having connections to Pakistani gangster Shahzad Bhatti. Agencies are now conducting a thorough examination of these individuals’ activities, contacts, and potential affiliations. The initial inquiry aims to uncover the extent of this network and its underlying motives.
Among those arrested are Sajid Mahboob Sheikh, also known as Arbaaz Khan, from the Kurla area of Mumbai, and Tauqeer Rizwan Sheikh from the Mumbra region. Both suspects have been brought to Delhi for further interrogation. Investigators indicate that they were instructed to travel to Delhi, where they were to be assigned further targets or responsibilities.
The investigation also revealed that the suspects received financial assistance for their travel and other activities in Delhi. Agencies are now working to trace the source of this funding and identify all individuals involved in the network.
The Special Cell of the Delhi Police has conducted raids and searches in the Kurla and Mumbra areas of Mumbai. Officials state that the investigation is ongoing, and further actions against additional individuals connected to this network may occur in the coming days. Security agencies regard this case as sensitive and linked to national security, prompting a comprehensive investigation of all aspects.
