Nine RLP Workers Detained After Protesting Against Rajasthan BJP Chief

Jaipur, May 30: Nine workers from the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) were detained by police on Friday during a protest in Kuchaman, Nagaur district, against the visit of BJP state president Madan Rathore. The protest involved displaying black flags, leading to heightened tensions in the area.

In response to the detentions, RLP convenor and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal stated that their fight against tyranny would continue. He emphasized that protesting democratically is everyone’s right and that the government cannot silence their voices through force. Beniwal has reached out to senior officials of the Rajasthan police, urging them to release the detained RLP workers immediately.

It is important to note that Rathore was in Kuchaman to participate in a two-day training camp named after Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. Prior to his arrival, RLP supporters had gathered near the camp venue, chanting slogans and waving black flags in protest.

As tensions escalated, police and administrative officials intervened, dispersing the protesters from the area. Reports indicate that authorities used minimal force to restore order.

This clash occurred amid rising political tensions between the BJP and RLP over the Bhairana Dham issue, with leaders from both parties accusing each other of exploiting the situation for political gain. Beniwal had previously supported the movement of saints from Bhairana Dham against land acquisition by RIICO for industrial use. After the administration accepted their demands, Beniwal withdrew the protest.

However, following the protest on Friday, verbal exchanges intensified when RLP workers surrounded Rathore’s vehicle and displayed black flags.

Meanwhile, BJP state vice president Jyoti Mirdha launched a sharp attack on Beniwal, accusing the RLP of politicizing a matter related to religious sentiments. Mirdha claimed that the BJP government is already addressing the concerns of saints and accused the RLP of attempting to gain political advantage from the movement.

She also questioned Beniwal’s political conduct and language, noting that despite lacking representation in the state assembly, he often presents himself as a chief minister. Mirdha further alleged that some statements made on public platforms were contrary to political decorum.
