Rajasthan Police Arrests Fugitive in Bluetooth Cheating Scandal

Jaipur, April 4: Rajasthan police have made a significant breakthrough in a cheating scandal linked to examinations. They arrested Rakesh Kumar Rewad, a key suspect in a Bluetooth-based cheating racket, who had been on the run for over a year.

The arrest was made by a team led by Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner of Shastri Nagar, on Friday.

Additional Director General of Police (Licensing and Welfare) Vishal Bali provided details about the case. It is connected to the Clerk Grade-II recruitment exam, which was conducted under the Joint Competitive Examination-2022 on March 12 and 19, 2023, following an order from the Rajasthan High Court.

According to police reports, Rewad, a resident of Churu district, was caught using a Bluetooth-enabled micro-device to receive answers from outsiders during the examination at a center in Sanganer, Jaipur, on March 19, 2023.

Investigations revealed that the mastermind, Ishwar Kailash, was supplying Bluetooth-connected mobile devices to candidates for a hefty fee. This setup allowed Rewad to receive answers during the exam.

Further inquiries indicated that Ishwar Kailash was the main operator of this racket, providing devices to candidates and sending answers via mobile during the exam. His accomplice, Ram Lal Kailash, was also involved in this illegal network.

A separate case (FIR number 66/2024 at Shastri Nagar police station) is already under investigation under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Rajasthan Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2022.

Rewad was also implicated in Bluetooth-based cheating during the Patwari recruitment exam held on May 14, 2023. Following the confirmation of the fraud, the state government canceled the affected examinations.

The investigation further revealed that Ishwar Kailash and his associate Ram Lal Kailash extorted large sums from multiple candidates, providing them with devices to receive answers during the exam.

Previously, on October 19, 2024, Rewad’s wife, Chandrakala Rewad, was arrested for similar Bluetooth-based cheating during the VDO/RO recruitment exam.

Rewad had evaded arrest for over a year, prompting the Additional Director General to announce a reward of ₹25,000 for information leading to his capture. Police continue to investigate and identify other members involved in this racket.
