Uttarakhand Chief Minister Takes Bold Step in Response to PM Modis Energy Conservation Appeal

New Delhi, May 13: In a significant move prompted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for energy conservation, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken decisive action. He has halved his government convoy, aligning with the Prime Minister’s call to conserve energy, which he described as a commitment to national interest.

Chief Minister Dhami emphasized the importance of Modi’s message on energy conservation and the prudent use of resources, stating that it is crucial for the nation. He noted that this appeal extends beyond mere energy savings; it represents a collective commitment to building a self-reliant, capable, and responsible India. When national interest is paramount, every citizen and public representative has a duty to contribute to resource conservation.

He urged all ministers, representatives, and officials to avoid unnecessary vehicle use, promote public transport, and actively participate in transforming energy conservation into a public movement.

Dhami assured that the Uttarakhand government would implement the Prime Minister’s call with seriousness and commitment, aiming to achieve resource savings while also focusing on environmental protection and sustainable development goals.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi himself exemplified this initiative by arriving at a cabinet meeting with only four vehicles in his convoy. He emphasized the inclusion of electric vehicles in his fleet. Following Modi’s appeal, several Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states have also reduced their convoys.

Notably, during a public address at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad, PM Modi urged citizens to reduce gold purchases over the next year to conserve foreign currency. He also provided several suggestions for reducing fuel consumption, encouraging the use of metro and public transport wherever possible.
