
Bareilly, May 13: In a significant breakthrough, the Faridpur police in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, have dismantled an IPL betting racket. On Wednesday, authorities arrested a young man linked to the operation and seized ₹10,000 in cash, an iPhone, and a Nepali SIM card from him.
Additionally, police recovered six ATM cards, three bank passbooks, and forged Aadhaar and PAN cards during the search. SP South Anshika Verma held a press conference to disclose the details of the case. Meanwhile, police are actively pursuing two accomplices of the arrested individual.
SP Anshika Verma stated that the suspect, identified as Upendra, was heavily involved in large-scale IPL betting. Evidence found on his mobile phone indicates that he was also engaged in illegal transactions.
During the search, authorities confiscated ₹10,000 in cash, two Aadhaar cards, two PAN cards, three bank passbooks, six ATM cards, and one mobile phone. Records from his accounts reveal that approximately ₹7 crore has been transacted over the past three years.
The suspect operated the IPL betting scheme on a large scale, reportedly involving over 100 individuals. An FIR has been filed against him, and police are on the lookout for his two absconding associates, identified as Chini and Dinesh.
