
Chennai, May 13: In an impressive display at the National Doubles Squash Championship, Guhan Senthilkumar and Sandesh P.R. triumphed over Naman Surana and Pranav Agarwal in the Round of 16, winning decisively with scores of 11-1 and 11-2. This victory secured the Tamil Nadu pair a spot in the men’s doubles quarterfinals.
The Tamil Nadu team maintained control throughout the rallies at the Indian Squash Academy, finishing the match decisively. Shubham and Vedant Patel also delivered a stellar performance, defeating Akshay Deepak and Parthiban with scores of 11-8, 10-12, and 11-2.
Matthew Godwin and Navneet Prabhu clinched an easy victory against Vidik Karkashe and Yash Sonawani, winning 11-4 and 11-6 to secure their place in the quarterfinals. Ravi Dixit and Vikas Mehra also advanced smoothly, overcoming Ajinkya Shinde and Omkar Avhad with scores of 11-3 and 11-4.
In the Women’s Doubles Group B round-robin, Janet Vidhi and Pooja Aarti progressed as Kriya Saravanan and Nandikashree retired from the match. The Mixed Doubles Round of 16 featured an exciting comeback, with Ravi Dixit and Janet Vidhi bouncing back after losing the first game to defeat Dinesh and Ananya Narayan with scores of 4-11, 11-5, and 11-8.
Looking ahead to Thursday, fans will focus on India’s top squash stars, including Velvan Senthilkumar, who has partnered with Abhay Singh in the men’s doubles event, and the experienced Joshna Chinappa in the mixed doubles.
