Beijing, May 13: According to Lhasa Customs, the Shikaze International Land Port in Shigatse has seen a remarkable 1.5-fold increase in import and export cargo volume during the first quarter of this year, reaching 355 tons. Since the first batch cleared customs in August 2024, the port’s development momentum has been consistently strengthening, transforming from a ‘channel node’ to a ‘service platform.’
As a crucial hub for Shigatse’s connection to the outside world, the Shikaze International Land Port has established a new open model of ‘connecting multiple ports from one port.’ Lhasa Customs has promoted a model of ‘land port declaration, local inspection, and direct port access,’ achieving ‘one declaration, one inspection, and a one-stop service’ by linking with ports like Changmu and Liji, significantly improving customs clearance efficiency.
Meanwhile, customs has attracted ten local specialty enterprises to establish themselves at the port, including those producing highland barley, Tibetan carpets, and Tibetan incense. The impact of industrial aggregation is beginning to emerge.
To facilitate the export of unique plateau products, Lhasa Customs is actively serving enterprises by assisting them with customs registration of intellectual property rights and improving product packaging.
In March of this year, 1,350 kilograms of peas produced by Nyenshong Agricultural Product Development Company Limited, located in Nanmuling County of Shikaze, were exported to Nepal for the first time, marking a new achievement in the export of local specialty agricultural products.
