New Delhi, May 13: The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of the Delhi Police in the eastern district has achieved a significant success by arresting a notorious and habitual criminal involved in vehicle theft. The accused, Vijay Pal, was found in possession of three stolen two-wheelers. This operation has successfully solved three vehicle theft cases registered in the eastern district.
According to police reports, 24-year-old Vijay Pal, a resident of Rajbir Colony, has a history of involvement in six criminal cases related to vehicle theft and snatching. He is known as a habitual auto-lifter and snatcher. On May 12, 2026, based on intelligence about a suspicious individual in the Rajbir Colony area, the AATS team acted swiftly. Led by Inspector Pawan Yadav, the team intercepted Vijay Pal, who was riding a motorcycle. Upon searching, the motorcycle was found to be stolen.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to his involvement in the crimes. Following his lead, two scooters were also recovered from various areas in Delhi. The recovered vehicles include one motorcycle and two scooters.
The AATS team from the eastern district achieved this success through continuous surveillance, analysis of CCTV footage, local intelligence, and strategic field operations. The team comprised Sub-Inspector Vikram Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Rajeev and Deepak Tyagi, and Head Constables Sandeep, Krishna, Vikrant, and Ashwini. The entire operation was monitored by ASP Pawan Kumar.
Vijay Pal’s method was simple yet effective. He primarily targeted unattended two-wheelers in residential colonies, markets, and public places. The money earned from selling the stolen vehicles and mobile phones was used to fund his alcohol addiction. His activities were driven by substance abuse and a habitual criminal tendency.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Eastern District) Shrishti Pandey, IPS, stated that the police are continuously monitoring active criminals, and the protection of public property remains a top priority.
The police have urged citizens to park their vehicles securely, use safety chains, and report any suspicious activities immediately to the nearest police station or call 112. Further investigations are ongoing to identify the accused’s accomplices and recover additional stolen property.
