Student Outrage Over NEET UG Exam Cancellation Sparks Calls for Accountability

New Delhi, May 12: The NEET UG medical entrance exam, held on May 3, has been canceled across the country. This decision has led various student organizations to raise concerns about the exam’s integrity and the recent paper leak.

Students express that such irregularities have resulted in significant disappointment for millions who have dedicated an entire year to prepare for this exam. The cancellation and leak have dealt a severe mental and financial blow to both students and their families. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) claims that their persistent efforts forced the government to annul the NEET exam. However, they argue that simply canceling the exam does not equate to justice. The NSUI insists that until action is taken against the network responsible for the leak, and accountability is established for the National Testing Agency (NTA), their fight will continue.

The NSUI demands the dissolution of the NTA, the resignation of the education minister, and an independent investigation into the entire paper leak scandal, ensuring strict punishment for those found guilty. NSUI President Vinod Jakhar stated that the cancellation of the exam is evidence of large-scale malpractice, yet many questions remain unanswered. He emphasized the need to identify the major groups involved in the leak.

Similarly, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has expressed deep concern over the irregularities associated with the NEET UG 2026 exam, raising questions about its credibility. The ABVP highlights that reports revealing these issues have instilled significant anxiety among millions of students and parents regarding the examination system’s reliability. They firmly believe that the integrity of entrance exams must not be compromised.

The student organization argues that the leak prior to the exam is not only an attack on the examination system but also an injustice to the future of countless students who have worked hard throughout the year. The ABVP has called on the central government to conduct a fair and timely investigation into the matter.

Students are urging that central agencies conduct thorough investigations and ensure strict actions against those involved, including exam mafias and any accomplices. They also demand that the NTA maintains transparency and clarifies facts to students and parents until the investigation is complete. According to ABVP National General Secretary Virendra Solanki, millions of students participate in exams like NEET after years of hard work and struggle. Any irregularity can severely impact their morale and future.

Therefore, it is crucial that a fair investigation is conducted, and those responsible are not spared under any circumstances. The ABVP has consistently advocated for stronger technical security, confidentiality of question papers, monitoring of exam centers, and accountability in national-level examinations to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
