New Delhi, September 26 (Udaipur Kiran News). The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ salary for railway employees. The decision, amounting to ₹1,865.68 crore, will benefit around 10.91 lakh non-gazetted railway staff across the country.

Bonus ahead of Durga Puja and Dussehra
PLB is paid every year before the festive season. This year too, the government has cleared the bonus payment to railway employees in recognition of their performance. The maximum PLB amount payable to each employee is ₹17,951, equivalent to 78 days’ wages.
Beneficiaries include track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, assistants, pointsmen, ministerial staff, and other Group C employees.
Record performance by Indian Railways
In the financial year 2024–25, Indian Railways achieved record freight movement of 1614.90 million tons and carried around 7.3 billion passengers. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw welcomed the Cabinet’s decision, stating that it would directly benefit more than one million employees while motivating them to continue improving performance.
Financial relief for families
Officials said the bonus would provide substantial relief to railway employees and their families ahead of Durga Puja and Dussehra. The annual PLB system acts as a major incentive to boost morale and productivity across the sector.
