Ghaziabad, May 16: Advocate Hari Shankar Jain commented on the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s ruling regarding the Bhojshala case. He stated that the court clearly recognized the existence of a temple at the site, asserting that Hindus should have the right to worship there.
Jain emphasized that the court confirmed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) conducted a thorough survey, including videography and photography. Historical and archaeological evidence indicates that King Bhoj established the Saraswati temple and a Sanskrit school in 1034. He noted that Muslim invaders demolished the temple and erected a structure for prayers. Simply praying in a structure does not make it a mosque, he asserted.
The advocate further stated that the court explicitly recognized the religious nature of the site as a temple. The court also annulled the ASI’s previous orders and directed the return of the idol of Vagdevi. He expressed that the court’s decision, reached in just four years, rectifies the injustices inflicted by invaders. This is a victory for the entire nation. Jain vowed to restore all temples that were destroyed and converted into mosques.
Samajwadi Party MLA Ravidas Mehrotra commented that it is inappropriate to comment on the High Court’s order, urging people to accept the court’s decision.
Senior Supreme Court lawyer Indira Jaising mentioned that she has not read the ruling and therefore refrained from making any comments. She emphasized the need to work towards secularism.
Qazi Syed Nisar Ali remarked that the High Court’s decision favored one side. He noted that the Supreme Court remains an option for appeal, expressing confidence in India’s judiciary to ensure justice. He cautioned that if any party interprets the ruling as final, it is not the end, as the Supreme Court is still available for recourse.
