Mumbai, May 16: Political discussions surrounding petrol and diesel prices are intensifying across the country. In this context, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson and former MP Priyanka Chaturvedi sharply criticized the central government on issues of corruption, inflation, and its policy towards Pakistan. However, she described Prime Minister Modi’s foreign trip as beneficial for the nation.
Speaking to reporters, Chaturvedi stated, “His visit is for the country’s advantage. The Prime Minister is traveling to the European Union, Nordic countries, and the UAE. The UAE has recently exited OPEC. We hope that India and the UAE will work together to resolve oil and gas needs. Additionally, trade discussions will create jobs for the youth and strengthen the economy.”
She accused the central government of failure, saying, “If we focused more on the central government’s shortcomings rather than the ‘India’ alliance, there would be accountability today. Corruption is rampant in the country. Bureaucrats are spending the nation’s hard-earned money on building swimming pools and sports facilities in their colonies.”
Chaturvedi criticized the government over rising prices, stating, “Prices of milk, vegetables, fruits, and grains are skyrocketing. Farmers in Maharashtra are not receiving fair prices for onions. Those who work hard are not even covering their costs, while common consumers are struggling to buy food. This reflects the failure of the economic system.”
Expressing her displeasure over RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale’s comments about talks with Pakistan, Chaturvedi remarked, “The people of India are not in the mood for any discussions with Pakistan. When the government itself states that there will be no dialogue with terrorism, on what basis are these talks being suggested? Pakistan may welcome the idea, but the people of India do not support it.”
She emphasized that the opposition should question the central government on its failures, inflation, corruption, and foreign policy. She claimed that the public will hold the government accountable on these issues.
