Tragic Incident in Madhya Pradesh: Woman Killed by Falling Tree Amid Storm

Shahdol, May 16: Severe weather continues to impact Madhya Pradesh, with storms and heavy rain causing chaos. On Friday evening, a tragic incident occurred in Shahdol district when a large Mahua tree fell during a sudden storm, resulting in the death of a woman.

The incident took place in the Haat Bazaar of village Girwa, located approximately 57 kilometers from the district headquarters. The storm caused the tree to collapse, and it struck Sogi Bai Mahra, a 46-year-old woman from Malaya Keshwahi, who was operating a vegetable stall at the market. She died on the spot.

The market was crowded at the time, and the falling tree created panic among the shoppers, who scrambled to escape. Local police from Amlai station arrived quickly to manage the situation and initiate necessary actions.

Amalai police station chief Bhupendra Mani Pandey confirmed that the Mahua tree fell due to the strong winds associated with the storm. The deceased woman was a vendor who supported her family by selling vegetables in the market.
