Israeli Military Chiefs Secret UAE Visits During Recent Conflict Revealed

Jerusalem, May 16: Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir and other senior officers secretly visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the recent conflict with Iran. This information was disclosed by Israel’s state Kan TV news on Friday.

According to the channel, Zamir met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several senior security officials during this visit. However, the channel did not specify the exact date of the trip. The conflict began on February 28 and concluded with a ceasefire on April 8.

On Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced that he also made a secret visit to the UAE during the conflict and met with the president. However, the UAE’s foreign ministry denied that Netanyahu had visited the country.

Earlier media reports indicated that David Barnea, head of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, and David Sini, head of the domestic security agency Shin Bet, also made secret visits to the UAE during this period.

Kan TV noted that these visits suggest a strengthening of ties between Israel and the UAE. In recent years, the UAE has become a significant regional partner for Israel, especially following the normalization agreements established under the Abraham Accords. Cooperation between the two countries has steadily increased in areas such as trade, technology, tourism, and intelligence sharing, despite occasional regional tensions.

However, Netanyahu’s alleged secret visit indicates that discussions may have progressed beyond mere diplomatic relations.

Experts in regional affairs believe that these meetings likely addressed issues such as security coordination, regional stability, economic partnerships, and the changing geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.

Israeli political analysts have described this development as one of the most sensitive diplomatic moves made by Netanyahu in recent months.
