Political Shift in Tamil Nadu as TVK Gains Momentum in Election Trends

Chennai, May 4: Significant political shifts are emerging in the early trends of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Actor Vijay’s party, TVK, is rapidly gaining traction, while several prominent BJP figures are trailing behind. This indicates potential major changes in the state’s political landscape.

BJP’s state president, Nainar Nagendran, is lagging behind in the Sattur constituency. He opted to contest from Sattur this time, leaving Tirunelveli, but is currently 909 votes behind DMK candidate Kadarakarai Raj A.

Central Minister L. Murugan is also facing challenges in the Avanashi (SC) seat, trailing TVK candidate Kamali S by 2,080 votes.

In Chennai’s Mylapore constituency, former governor Tamilisai Soundararajan is also behind. TVK’s Venkataramanan P has established a significant lead of 9,296 votes, showcasing the party’s stronghold in urban areas.

The BJP is contesting 27 seats in alliance with AIADMK in this election but is receiving mixed results. The party’s women’s wing president, Vanathi Srinivasan, who won from Coimbatore South in 2021, is now contesting from Coimbatore North and is trailing TVK’s V. Sampath Kumar by 839 votes.

However, the BJP is maintaining leads in some constituencies. M.R. Gandhi is ahead in Nagercoil, Bhojarajan M in Udhagamandalam, and C. Nagesh Kumar in Thalli.

In the Vilavancode seat, BJP’s Vijayadharani S is trailing Congress’s Praveen T.T. by 6,697 votes. Meanwhile, in Salem North, Tourism Minister R. Rajendran is behind by 5,508 votes after 10 rounds, with TVK candidates in strong positions.

TVK’s influence is evident in several constituencies. In Virudhunagar, P. Selvam leads DMK’s V. Vijayaprakash by 2,455 votes. In Karur district’s Krishnarayapuram seat, TVK’s M. Sathya is just five votes ahead of AIADMK‘s S. Divya, making the contest extremely tight.

Additionally, AIADMK and its allied parties are performing well in some areas. S. Rajendran is leading in Ariyalur, and PMK’s Vaithilingam is ahead in Jayankondam.

In Chennai’s T. Nagar constituency, TVK’s N. Anand has taken a significant lead, clearly indicating the party’s growing influence in urban regions. These trends point towards a substantial shift in Tamil Nadu’s politics, with TVK emerging as a formidable challenge to other parties.
