Major Success in Drug-Free Campaign in Kosi Region: 1,115 Arrested in Three Months

Saharsa, June 3: The ongoing drug-free campaign in Bihar’s Kosi region has achieved significant success over the past three months. Under the leadership of Dr. Kumar Ashish, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, operations against drug dealers and users have been intensifying across Saharsa, Supaul, and Madhepura districts. In this period, police have arrested 1,115 individuals on charges related to drug trafficking.

According to information from the DIG’s office, law enforcement has seized over 41,000 liters of alcohol, more than 2,202 kilograms of cannabis, 3,636.57 grams of smack, 2,936 milligrams of narcotic injections, 120 narcotic tablets, and 1,467.12 bottles of codeine syrup. Additionally, police have confiscated over 185,000 Indian Rupees and 27,570 Nepalese Rupees.

DIG Dr. Kumar Ashish stated that the ongoing actions have instilled fear among criminals involved in the trade of alcohol, cannabis, and other narcotics. He issued a clear warning to those engaged in drug trafficking, urging them to abandon their illegal activities or face stringent legal consequences.

The DIG also appealed to the public for active cooperation in the drug-free campaign. He encouraged anyone with information related to drug trafficking or use to contact the helpline number 9060384865 via call, message, or WhatsApp.

He assured that the identity of informants would be kept completely confidential. Furthermore, individuals providing useful information leading to significant seizures would be rewarded. Dr. Ashish emphasized the police’s commitment to making the Kosi region drug-free and stated that the campaign would continue to be conducted more effectively.
