Zelensky Calls for European Support Amid Fears of Further Attacks

New Delhi, June 3: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that multiple ballistic missiles and drones have been launched at Ukraine. Air raid alerts remain active in various regions, and intelligence indicates that another major attack may occur tonight. “We are facing aerial threats,” he stated.

In a post on the social media platform X, Zelensky described the day as exceptionally challenging for Ukraine due to a large-scale attack from Russia. “Many ballistic missiles and drones have been fired. Air raid sirens are still sounding across different parts of the country. The threat from the skies persists,” he said.

Zelensky confirmed that the attacks resulted in the deaths of 22 individuals, including children, in Kyiv and Dnipro. He emphasized that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of their people, cities, and communities, expressing gratitude to those who are assisting Ukraine.

He also thanked Italy for its support, stating, “We are deeply grateful that you care for us, wish for our peace, and believe that defending Kyiv’s freedom and independence is a shared issue. Together, we will undoubtedly achieve this goal.”

The President lamented that Ukraine’s air defense currently lacks sufficient supplies to intercept a significant portion of incoming missiles. Recent attacks have left 130 people injured and resulted in the tragic loss of 22 lives, including two children. “My heartfelt condolences go out to those who have lost loved ones,” he added.

Zelensky revealed that intelligence suggests another major attack could happen tonight. He urged all partners and Europe as a whole to continue working on providing missiles, systems, vital intelligence, and other necessary resources for air defense, which are crucial for saving lives.

“It is clear that Europe needs its own anti-ballistic system that is robust and sufficient to provide protection against any threats,” he concluded.
