Bihars JD(U) Achieves Historic Membership Milestone with Over 10 Million Members

Patna, June 3: The Janata Dal (United) or JD(U), a key ally in Bihar’s ruling NDA coalition, has made history by surpassing a membership count of over 10 million. This significant achievement was announced by the party’s national executive president, Sanjay Kumar Jha, on social media.

JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar has been focusing on strengthening the organization since stepping down as Chief Minister. Jha expressed excitement about welcoming over 10 million primary members into the JD(U) family.

He shared on the social networking site X that the party achieved this milestone in less than six months, following the launch of the ‘JD(U) Membership Drive 2025-28’ by Nitish Kumar on December 6, 2025.

As of June 2, 2026, the total number of primary members reached 10,001,925. Jha thanked the people of Bihar for their support and acknowledged the dedication of party workers who actively participated in the grassroots membership campaign.

He stated, “Under the guidance of our beloved leader Nitish Kumar, the party is committed to serving the people of Bihar and meeting their expectations.”

The membership drive, initiated under Kumar’s leadership, aimed to strengthen the organization at the booth level and engage new members. The party reported that it received overwhelming support across the state, with active participation from workers in both rural and urban areas.
