Strengthening India-Bangladesh Media Collaboration: Indian High Commission Engages with Female Journalists

Dhaka, June 3: The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh recently held a special dialogue with female journalists who visited India. This delegation, comprising leading female journalists from Bangladesh’s prominent print and television media, was in India from May 11 to May 24.

The High Commission shared highlights of the visit on social media, featuring photographs from the event. According to the information provided, the journalists participated in a specialized training course titled “Journalism for a Better World: Reporting for SDGs” at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata, under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program. The goal of this program was to train journalists in effective and responsible reporting on issues related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During a dialogue session held on Tuesday, Pawan Kumar Badhe, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Indian High Commission, reviewed the delegation’s visit to India. He emphasized the need for deeper collaboration and dialogue between media institutions in both countries. He stated that the media in both nations can play a vital role in developing a positive, creative, and future-oriented approach, thereby strengthening bilateral relations.

Throughout the training program, the delegation also visited several key cultural and educational sites in Kolkata. These included the ancestral home of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Science City, the Indian Museum, and other significant locations. These visits provided participants with an opportunity to closely understand India’s rich cultural heritage, history, and modern development.

The Indian High Commission stated on Wednesday that such capacity-building programs play a crucial role in enhancing contact and mutual understanding between the people of both countries. These initiatives not only develop professional skills but also strengthen cultural and social ties between India and Bangladesh.
